Position Summary
As a Mobile Person: Metal Prep. employee, you will perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the Metal Preparation unit, supporting production by preparing, handling, and processing metal components. This role combines hands-on technical work with mobile support across shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare products for processing by degreasing, cleaning, phosphatizing, and other surface preparation methods.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as overhead hoists, spray guns, pressure pots, and spot welders.
- Assist with cold room and compound management, including fork truck operation and material delivery.
- Hang, paint, and mark cyanacryl sheets; apply adhesives and bonding agents to components.
- Monitor and document operational parameters, including water levels, filter changes, and oil separator media.
- Perform in-process and final product inspections using measuring devices.
- Cut and assemble spring materials, operate brazing units, and perform weld strength tests.
- Relieve and assist coworkers, substitute during absences, and support extra work as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
- Adhere to all plant safety guidelines, including lock out/tag out procedures and proper PPE usage.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating various production equipment.
- Knowledge of metal preparation processes, styles, and types of stocks.
- Ability to read and write, perform basic math, and use measuring tools.
- Experience with fork truck operation and material handling.
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs. (use helper or mechanical device for heavier loads).
- Willingness to work in conditions involving dirt, dust, heat, cold, and solvent fumes.
- Lock out/tag out training required.
- High School degree or equivalent required
- Forklift certification required (Operates stand up, walk behind, or sit down style forklifts)
- Exposure to dust, fumes, solvents, heat, cold, and potential hazards such as burns, cuts, and pinching.
- Repetitive motion tasks including trimming, lifting, bending, gripping, and pinching.
- Variable posture and physical demand depending on assignment.

These considerations can cause offered compensation to vary. The hiring range for this position is typically $24.37 - $25.91 hourly. Actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
