Service Technician - Gas Powered Outdoor Equipment
Our power equipment service center, one of only two in the Rutland area, is looking for a Master Repair Technician. We currently have an apprentice and junior service technician; you will lead this team by guiding them with your experience and knowledge of outdoor power equipment repairs as well as complete your own repairs. We are focussed on quality repairs and efficient turnaround. We are proud to serve the landscaping professionals and knowledgeable homeowners of Rutland County.
Full Time, 5 days a week, Peak Season is April - August, flexible schedule including weekend or evening work if desired
Position Summary
The Service Technician keeps our customers' power equipment running — diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining outdoor power equipment across the brands we carry and service. This role is central to our standing as an authorized service center and keeps our service bay running smoothly, especially during peak season.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose and repair outdoor power equipment (mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, tractors, and more) across all serviced brands; Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, Exmark etc.
- Perform routine maintenance, tune-ups, and warranty service to manufacturer standards
- Use software to enter repair work completed, request parts and advance the repair to complete.
- Order and manage parts inventory needed for repairs
- Maintain tools, equipment, and the service bay to a clean, safe standard
- Support seasonal readiness — service bay throughput is critical during the spring rush and snow season
Experience and Skills
- 5 years small-engine or outdoor power equipment technician experience in professional repair shop
- Brand-specific certifications
- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills across gas, battery, and small-engine equipment
- Comfort working independently and managing a repair queue
- Comfort overseeing and guiding others' work
- Comfort utilizing basic software to track repairs and view results
- Ability to lift and move equipment as part of daily duties
- Own tools welcome or we can provide
Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
