What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at Garfield County Sheriff's Office?
Responsibilities:
- Receive and prioritize incoming calls from public and officers
- Dispatch officers to appropriate locations based on calls and officer availability
- Monitor officer progress and provide updates to reporting parties as needed
- Coordinate with jail and other offices for inmate transports
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities and communicate any issues or delays to supervisor, lots of data entry, organizing and filing records, sending and receiving faxes, emails, answering phone calls and relaying messages or transferring callers as needed
- Establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with those contacting the Sheriff's Office, in both emergency and non-emergency situations, perform with a high standard of customer professionalism and civic duty
-Able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays
Experience:
- Previous experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role preferred but not necessary
- Knowledge of OLETS, NCIC or similar dispatching software is a plus
- Strong phone etiquette and communication skills
- Ability to type quickly and accurately
- Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail
