Garfield County School District #16 and the Parachute/Battlement Mesa Parks and Recreation District have partnered to provide Cardinal Camp for the Summer of 2026.
Cardinal Camp has been designed for students entering 1st through 6th grade for the 2026-2027 school year (students currently enrolled in grades K-5), with one program, Theater Aspen, for students entering grades 3-12. The six-week program includes one-week sessions around a theme, such as arts and crafts, sports, outdoor education, etc. Families can sign up for the weeks that best meet their needs.
Cardinal Camp will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Transportation to and from camp and lunch are provided.
Cardinal Camp is available to Garfield 16 students, as well as children who are not registered with the school district.
All programs will provide lunch.
The cost of the programs are $50 per week, per child.
Theatre Aspen and Extended English Language Learners camps are free.
As a Summer Camp Teacher/Counselor, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and teaching lessons throughout a five-day week (Monday through Friday) from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Class sizes will be capped at 30 students, with each class having a support instructor. Teachers will receive an hourly stipend for their work during the summer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Planning and teaching daily lessons/activities each day of the week (Monday-Friday from 9:00-4:00) for classes up to 30 students, grades entering 1st-6th grade.
•Each class will have a supporting instructor you are responsible for directing and communicating with to help with your class.
•Communicating with the Camp Director on planning, logistics, transportation and instructional/support materials.
•Curriculum, instruction and supervision of kids during daily activities.
•Inspire students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge that aligns with Personal Wellness, Intellectual Development, Productive Citizenship, and Student Agency.
Qualifications:
•Minimum B.A. or B.S. preferably in Elementary Education.
•Experience working with children.
•Desire to be part of an innovative program that supports personalized learning experiences for students.
