Role Description
The Assistant Director/Director of the Bulldog Club and Sponsorship Programs is a key member of Gardner-Webb University’s Advancement team, reporting directly to the Vice President for Advancement.
This position leads efforts to grow philanthropic support for Gardner-Webb Athletics through the Bulldog Club while expanding strategic corporate partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that benefit both Athletics and the university. The successful candidate will build meaningful relationships with alumni, parents, donors, businesses, and community partners while helping advance the mission of a Christ-centered NCAA Division I institution.
Primary Responsibilities
• Grow Bulldog Club membership and philanthropic support.
• Develop and manage corporate sponsorships and strategic partnerships.
• Cultivate, solicit, steward, and engage donors, alumni, businesses, and community partners.
• Plan and execute Bulldog Club events, stewardship activities, hospitality experiences, and game-day engagement.
• Recruit and support the Bulldog Club Board.
• Ensure outstanding stewardship and fulfillment of donor and sponsor benefits.
• Collaborate with Athletics, Advancement, Marketing, and other campus partners.
• Represent Gardner-Webb University professionally while advancing its mission and values.
Required Qualifications
Assistant Director Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as business, marketing, communications, sports management, or public relations.
• At least 1 year of relevant work experience in athletic sponsorships, alumni relations, fundraising, development, or a similar field.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a higher education setting.
Director Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as business, marketing, communications, sports management, or public relations.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience in university advancement, athletic fundraising, development, or a similar field.
• Documented success securing philanthropic gifts using advancement metrics. •Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing staff, volunteers, or committees.
• Knowledge of higher education or nonprofit environments, including an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in engaging alumni and parents within these contexts.
