Adjunct Faculty - Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program

The Hunt School of Nursing invites qualified applicants for adjunct faculty positions within the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Courses are available in the Post-Masters DNP program option, Family Nurse Practitioner program option, and Psychiatric Mental Health program option. Course assignments may include core DNP courses, DNP project courses, and/or Family Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner practicum courses based on qualifications. Core DNP courses and DNP Project courses are offered online, with possible on-campus intensive requirements. Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner courses are offered online, but may require in-person or virtual site visits. Practicum sites are located in proximity to the student’s home address.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Teach material from approved curriculum and up-to-date clinical practice guidelines

· Advise students in matters related to academics, attendance, and professional behavior

· Maintain and submit student grades and attendance per university policies

· Maintain productive contact with students and offer support, as appropriate

· Follow the guidelines, policies, and procedures as outlined in the Faculty Handbook

· Collaborate with program faculty and leadership to ensure course quality

· Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback

· Participate in required adjunct faculty meetings and training sessions

· Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications for Post-Masters DNP Program Option and non-APRN related courses:

· Doctoral degree in nursing

· Unencumbered RN license in North Carolina or a compact state

· Minimum of two years of employment in direct client care as an RN

· Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

· Flexible availability to students, including weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends

Required Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner Program Options and APRN related courses:

· Doctoral degree in nursing. A master’s degree may be considered for nurse practitioner practicum courses only.

· Unencumbered RN license in North Carolina or a compact state

· Minimum of two years of employment in direct client care as an RN

· Unencumbered APRN license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in North Carolina

· Minimum of two years of recent clinical practice as an advanced practice registered nurse
