Title: Technical Products and Applications Specialist
Location: Gardner Marsh Gas Equipment Company - Northwest Raleigh, NC - convenient to Hwy 540/Hwy 70
Reports To: CEO
Hours: 40 per week
Technical Products and Applications Specialist Job Summary: The Technical Products and Applications Specialist (TPAS) is a critical position within Gardner Marsh.
The TPAS is tasked with providing our customers with technical assistance and service training including selection, specification, application, installation and troubleshooting of LP and Natural Gas products and appliances. It is important that the TPAS values and adheres to the Company vision of being a Value Added
Distributor, meeting our customer’s needs efficiently, going the extra mile to provide superior customer service.
Essential Knowledge Requirements
Technical Products and Applications Specialist must possess the following:
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of the application, sizing, selection, installation, repair, troubleshooting of LP Gas Regulators and accessories.
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of propane bulk plant equipment and delivery systems including internal valves, meters, pumps and bobtails.
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of LP and Natural Gas Appliances including tankless water heaters, gas logs and heaters, as well as gas grills.
- Be familiar with State and National Codes governing the safe use of propane and equipment. CETP certifications a plus.
- Be available to travel to obtain further education, training and expertise.
Daily Responsibilities
Technical Products and Applications Specialist will be required to:
- Answer phone calls from customers requiring technical assistance, answering their inquiries efficiently, accurately, to the best of your ability.
- Provide backup assistance for the warehouse counter with walk-in customers who need technical/in-depth product assistance.
- Other assignments as given by Supervisors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School education or G.E.D.
- Requires at least 5 years experience in the LP Gas industry. Advanced LP knowledge required, extensive on the job and classroom training will be provided.
- Must be a self motivated learner. A desire to learn, investigate and problem solve is essential. The learning will never end so TPAS must actively, consistently and independently desire to stay informed, updated, and aware of trends and products in the LPG industry.
- Ability to use computerized material management system.
- PC skills – Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Administrative skills including record keeping and ability to write articles on various aspects of technical knowledge for company newsletter.
- Ability to patiently and effectively communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
