Safety Supervisor
Reports To: VP, Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary:
The Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring a safe workplace by developing, executing and improving Gardner’s safety management program. The Supervisor will be accountable for safety-related issues through a systematic approach which combines organizational goals, policy, structure, planning, and operating procedures.
Job Role/Responsibilities:
• Develop, execute and continuously improve safety management processes at Gardner. This includes policy, objectives, plans, procedures, organization, and responsibilities.
• Lead the safety committee to ensure safe practices throughout all facilities.
• Develop safety operation procedures.
• Manage, inspect, and maintain equipment to ensure optimal operation throughout our facilities.
• Maintain and require appropriate documentation of equipment, as required by law.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental safety standards and other local and federal safety guidelines.
• In partnership with the operations leaders coordinate safety audits.
• Serve as primary contact for all safety and security issues.
• Conduct safety meetings/drills to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Negotiate contracts for warehouse equipment, service and repairs.
• Conduct periodic safety inspections at facilities to ensure each warehouse is operating in a safe and efficient manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or in lieu of a degree at least 5 years of safety leadership experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience working in a distribution environment.
• OSHA certified is preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and other local or federal safety standards, environmental safety standards, occupational and emergency safety procedures.
• Strong project management skills are needed.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to build strong trusting relationships with others.
• Certified forklift trainer is preferred.
