Job Overview
As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will play a vital role in our financial operations by ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. You will be the backbone of our accounts payable department, maintaining financial integrity and supporting our overall accounting functions. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will help us manage our vendor relationships effectively and uphold compliance with financial regulations.
What you’ll do
- Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments while adhering to company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Perform account reconciliations to maintain accurate records and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Utilize accounting software such as Great Plains for data entry and transaction processing.
- Assist in the preparation of journal entries and maintain the general ledger for accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support payroll management and benefits administration as needed.
- Conduct analysis of accounts payable transactions to identify trends and improve processes.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations throughout the accounts payable process.
- Maintain organized records of all accounts payable transactions for auditing purposes.
Basic qualifications
- Proficient in double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting principles.
- Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy, including 10 key typing proficiency.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with financial software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, or UltiPro is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with public accounting practices or governmental accounting is a plus.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and experience in non-profit accounting can enhance your candidacy.
