Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, professional, and customer-focused Medical Receptionist to join our fast-paced medical practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing front desk operations, providing excellent patient service, and ensuring efficient administrative support in a high-volume healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Answer and direct a high volume of incoming phone calls.
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments.
- Verify patient demographics, insurance information, and eligibility.
- Collect copays, balances, and other payments.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Handle patient registration, intake forms, and medical documentation.
- Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies.
- Manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Process referrals, prior authorizations, and medical records requests as needed.
- Monitor waiting room flow and communicate appointment delays to patients.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Perform general administrative duties including filing, scanning, faxing, and data entry.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous medical receptionist, medical office, or healthcare administrative experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and EMR systems preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
