Job Summary: The Business Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging business education instruction to students. The teacher develops students’ understanding of fundamental business concepts including entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, management, and workplace readiness. Instruction promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, financial literacy, and real-world application while aligning with state and district standards. The position fosters a positive classroom environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, ethical decision-making, and preparation for future careers and post-secondary education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district Business curriculum.
- Teach a variety of business topics such as entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing, management, accounting, and career readiness.
- Integrate real-world business scenarios, case studies, and project-based learning to enhance student understanding.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate, including mathematics, economics, technology, and communication skills.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.
- Use evidence-based classroom management strategies to maintain a safe, organized and inclusive classroom environment.
- Use evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure effective instruction, high student engagement, and continuous improvement in student performance.
- Utilize technology and business-related software tools to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Encourage critical thinking, financial responsibility, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Guide students in developing business plans, presentations, and other practical business applications.
- Support students in exploring career pathways in business, finance, entrepreneurship, and related fields.
- Prepare students for business competitions, certifications, or community business projects when applicable.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and staff to support interdisciplinary learning and career readiness initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with school policies.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in Business, Computer and Information Technology PK-12 required
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination
- Submission of the following clearances:
- Pennsylvania State Criminal History Record
- Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Clearances
- Federal Background Check (Fingerprints)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
