Steward

Position Purpose & Summary

The primary objectives of a steward are to clean all china, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen through general cleaning, trash removal, organization, floor cleaning, and cleaning equipment, as necessary.

Essential Functions:

• Set up and operate the dish machine; break down the machine at the end of the shift. Wash China, Glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and other appropriately sized equipment through the dish machine. Return items to the proper location. At the end of the shift, drain and close the machine properly.
• Set up and hand wash pots and pans in the 3 Compartment sink area. Hand-wash, rinse, and sanitize pots and pans. Return items to the proper location.
• Keep the kitchen floors clean. Sweep and mop floors as necessary throughout the shift and at the end of the shift.
• Clean kitchen equipment, as necessary, to include ranges, ovens, fryers, flattops, grills, hot hold boxes, and walk-in coolers.
• Clean the kitchen (walls, ceiling, shelving, prep tables, carts) as necessary.
• Organize the storerooms and kitchen, as necessary.
• Remove full trash bags as necessary and at the end of the shift.
• Deliver "I Am Proud" service standards and department-specific signature touch points.
• Establish cross-departmental channels of communication among teammates that are consistent and complete.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Break down cardboard boxes as necessary and remove them to the recycling dumpster.
• Maintain a clean and organized employee cafeteria/break room. Set up the Café in the mornings to ensure appropriate equipment and a clean breakroom. At the end of the day, remove food, clean and mop the breakroom, and remove trash.
• Greet every guest, member, and team member with "I Am Proud" standards, setting a positive tone for every interaction.
• Provide extraordinary service that is "Enriching by Nature."
• Uphold the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club's brand, culture, vision, mission, and values.
• Be empowered to make things go right if they go wrong.
• Give the guest/member a fond farewell.
• Demonstrate a professional appearance and be attentive to what matters most.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Observe and adhere to safety guidelines.

• Interface positively with other departments, offering assistance when needed.

Position Requirements:

1. Minimum Knowledge & Skills: Previous stewarding or cleaning experience preferred

External and Internal Personal Contact:

1. Communications:
• Daily – Participate in daily line-up meetings and communication with management.
• Occasionally – Departmental meetings as scheduled, Participate in one-on-one coaching sessions.

1. Teamwork and Collaboration: This position requires continuous teamwork as well as internal and cross-departmental communication. The stewarding role may include working at multiple locations, either during the same shift or scheduled for one location, to include Kissing Camels, Three Graces, or the Main Kitchen. Other cleaning locations may arise, including the Three Graces Pool, the Kitchen, and the Recreation Center Pool.

Environmental Factors:

Environmental factors may include indoor setting with overhead lighting and comfortable ventilation. May occasionally be called upon to work in all areas of the property, both inside and outside, possibly in inclement weather.
