What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Dietary Services position at Garden of Eden Adult Home?
Overview:
Garden of Eden Assisted Living Facility is seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Dietary to lead our dietary department. As a Director of Dietary, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and service. This is a supervisory role that requires strong leadership abilities and a passion for providing excellent customer service. This position reports to Administrator.
Duties:
- Supervise Facility kitchen operations including meals preparation/ maintaining, ordering food
- Knowledge of NYC DOH/ NYSDoN regulations regarding proper food handling and sanitation in health care facilities
- Perform administrative duties: training, educating, scheduling, and leading kitchen staff
- Assist with inventory and purchasing food and kitchen supplies
- Interpret the Food Services Department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, government agencies, etc., as necessary
- Ensure proper control of equipment and supplies
- Ensure that menus are maintained and filed under current industry standards of practice.
- Ensure kitchen staff members are following menus
- Maintain the utmost cleanliness of the kitchen areas
- Inform Administrator of any complaints or concerns
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of NYC DOH/ NYSDoN regulations and practices regarding food safety in Assisted living facility
- Proven experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare facility
- Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Degree/ certification in Nutrition or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs
Requirements:
- NYC Food Handler Certificate required
- Ideal candidate would have managerial experience and would be able to lead by example
- Ideal candidate would have prior experience in assisted living facility, nursing care facility, hospital or other related medical facilities
- Ideal candidate would be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures and the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in the Assisted Living Facility.
- Must be organized, self-motivated, obtain leadership skills and be able to work well with others.
