What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gardener position at Garden Groomer?
Garden Groomer is looking for new gardeners to join our team! Founded in 2008, Garden Groomer is a women owned small gardening business with clients in the Richmond area. At Garden Groomer we pride ourselves on providing knowledge and experienced backed plant care and gardening services. We work primarily at residential homes doing detailed gardening and plant care for our clients. Offering the highest quality care, Garden Groomers are willing to go the extra mile to perfect the details other landscaping companies might miss.
Future Garden Groomers preferably have plant knowledge as well as related landscape or gardening experience, however our gardener position requires only enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Garden Groomer provides all training and equipment needed. Gardeners must be willing and able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions. To excel, gardeners must be detail oriented, self motivated, follow direction well, be good natured and honest, and possess a strong work ethic.
At Garden Groomer we perform a wide variety of tasks in our clients gardens. While there are frequently relaxing or 'easy' days, many days involve heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, or other 'unpleasant' activities. Applicants should be prepared to work in all weather conditions and temperatures and will be expected to be a pleasant and hard working team player.
Gardener's tasks include, but are not limited to:
- General garden cleanup
- Debris pick-up
- Weeding
- Pruning
- Mulching
- Basic Planting
- Edging
- Leaf removal
- Occasional Grass Cutting
Gardener expectation:
- Meet Garden Groomers high standards of care and attention to detail
- Be willing to learn and perform tasks how Garden Groomer directs
- Follow directions from team lead and horticulturalists
- Be able and willing to learn new skills
- Follow specific directions as assigned and accept feedback when necessary
- Lift 50 lbs
- Bend or squat consistently
- Maintain and bring assigned toolkit to work
Working hours are typically between 8:30 am and 5:00pm but can vary. All major holidays off. This is a seasonal position, however we typically work until the week before Christmas and start when the weather allows. For the past 2 years we started in early January.
Garden Groomer's service area is generally from Richmond's Fan west to Rt. 288. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation to job sites, a smart phone and be fluent in English. Workers may be subject to background and driving record checks.
Hiring process:
After an Initial interview, there is a paid working interview to asses your abilities. You will be paid $16/hr for your time. You will be notified of your employment status as soon as possible after the working interview.
