POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Job Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting investigations related to allegations of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, staff misconduct, and other violations in accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards within an immigration and custodial facility. You will conduct interviews, collect evidence, prepare investigative reports, and coordinate with facility leadership, medical staff, law enforcement, and external agencies as required. This position is critical in ensuring compliance with federal PREA standards, maintaining the integrity of investigations, and supporting the safety and welfare of detainees and staff. The ideal candidate is highly professional, detail-oriented, objective, and capable of handling sensitive investigations in a secure custodial environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Conduct prompt, thorough, and objective investigations into allegations of sexual abuse, sexual harassment, retaliation, staff misconduct, and related incidents.
• Interview detainees, staff, witnesses, and other involved parties while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
• Collect, preserve, and document physical, digital, photographic, and testimonial evidence.
• Prepare detailed investigative reports, summaries, and case documentation in accordance with PREA standards and facility policies.
• Maintain accurate case files, investigative notes, and evidence records.
• Coordinate with facility leadership, medical personnel, mental health staff, and outside law enforcement agencies as necessary.
• Ensure all investigations comply with applicable federal, state, local, and contractual PREA requirements.
• Monitor and document allegations of retaliation related to PREA complaints or investigations.
• Provide recommendations regarding corrective actions, policy improvements, or additional investigative steps when appropriate.
• Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to PREA standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, investigative materials, and detainee records.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies as directed in accordance with facility procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all facility policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  
  

Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience:

• Minimum of three (3) years of investigative experience in law enforcement, corrections, detention, military police, inspector general, administrative investigations, or related field.
• Knowledge of Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards and custodial investigative procedures.
• Experience conducting interviews, gathering evidence, and preparing investigative reports.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain objectivity during investigations
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook email, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to use sound judgment and perform job duties with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
• If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
• Must consent to fingerprinting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
• Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
• Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  
  

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands listed below, though not fully inclusive, are that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The employee is frequently required to move about inside the facility to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
