Pay: $45.00/hr.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS


Position Overview: In this role, you will coordinate, develop, and oversee training programs for detention facility personnel while ensuring employees receive required operational, safety, security, and compliance training in accordance with government detention standards, company policies, and applicable regulations. You will manage training schedules, maintain certification records, support staff development initiatives, and assist with operational readiness activities within a secure detention environment. This position requires strong organizational skills, leadership abilities, communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively instruct and support personnel across multiple departments and operational functions.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct classroom instruction, practical exercises, operational briefings, and hands-on training activities for detention staff, security personnel, healthcare employees, and support staff.
  • Coordinate and oversee employee training programs related to detention operations, security procedures, emergency response, healthcare compliance, workplace safety, PREA requirements, and facility operational standards.
  • Develop training schedules, lesson plans, instructional materials, presentations, and operational training resources for facility personnel and new hires.
  • Monitor employee certification requirements, training completion records, qualification status, and compliance deadlines to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate training documentation, attendance records, certification files, lesson plans, and operational reports related to staff development activities.
  • Coordinate firearms qualifications, emergency preparedness drills, defensive tactics instruction, evacuation exercises, and other required operational training events.
  • Evaluate employee performance during training activities and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective instruction as necessary to support operational competency.
  • Coordinate with department supervisors, facility leadership, outside instructors, contractors, and government representatives regarding training requirements and compliance activities.
  • Support audits, inspections, accreditation reviews, and operational assessments related to employee training, certification tracking, and facility readiness requirements.
  • Ensure all training programs comply with government detention standards, OSHA requirements, healthcare regulations, company policies, and applicable legal or contractual obligations.
  • Monitor training equipment, instructional materials, classroom resources, and operational supplies to ensure readiness for scheduled training activities.
  • Maintain professionalism, leadership, effective communication, and strong organizational skills while supporting safe and compliant detention facility operations through employee training and development.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess a recognized professional instructor certification or instructional credential valid for delivering training to adult learners in a detention, security or law enforcement environment.
  • Must possess a minimum of two (2) years of formal classroom or platform instruction experience, including a proven track record of delivering training curricula, lesson plans, and practical evaluations to adult learners.
  • Must possess at least three (3) years of direct operational experience in a detention or correctional facility, with a strong preference for candidates whose background includes working under federal oversight agencies or within government-contracted detention environments.
  • Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
  • If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
  • Must consent to fingerprinting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
  • Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
  • Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.


Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
