POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Position Overview: In this role, you will provide diagnostic imaging support services within the detention facility by performing radiologic procedures, operating imaging equipment, and assisting healthcare providers with resident diagnostic evaluations in accordance with government detention standards, clinical protocols, and healthcare regulations. You will ensure imaging procedures are conducted safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining proper patient care, radiation safety standards, and healthcare documentation within a secure detention healthcare environment. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively with residents, healthcare staff, and facility personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including x-rays and other approved radiologic examinations as ordered by physicians or authorized healthcare providers.
- Operate radiology equipment, imaging systems, and diagnostic technology safely and efficiently while following radiation safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
- Prepare residents for imaging procedures by explaining processes, positioning patients properly, and ensuring accurate image capture for diagnostic purposes.
- Review imaging quality and ensure diagnostic images are complete, accurate, and properly documented before submission to healthcare providers for interpretation.
- Maintain accurate radiology records, imaging documentation, patient logs, operational reports, and healthcare records in compliance with HIPAA requirements and facility standards.
- Monitor and maintain radiology equipment, imaging supplies, protective equipment, and operational materials while reporting maintenance concerns or equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety procedures, infection prevention standards, government detention requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Coordinate imaging appointments, resident movement, specialty referrals, and healthcare scheduling activities with nursing staff, detention personnel, and outside providers.
- Respond appropriately to resident medical concerns, emergencies, or operational issues that arise during imaging procedures while maintaining professionalism and safety.
- Assist healthcare providers with diagnostic support activities, treatment coordination, and continuity of care services related to imaging results and resident healthcare needs.
- Support audits, inspections, accreditation reviews, and compliance assessments related to radiology operations and healthcare services within the detention facility.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, technical accuracy, and effective communication while supporting safe and efficient radiology services within the detention facility.
Qualifications:
- Must possess one (1) year of Radiology Technician experience.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Radiology Technician Certification (CRT or PTR).
- Must possess and maintain a valid BLS/CPR Certification.
- Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
- If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
- Must consent to fingerprinting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
- Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
- Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements:
Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
