Senior MEP Design Lead - Hospitality

GAP Talent
Miami, FL Other
POSTED ON 8/27/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/25/2026

We are partnering with a major international hospitality and leisure group to appoint a Regional MEP Lead to support an extensive portfolio of land-based hotels, resorts and destination/day-resort developments across the Caribbean.

Based in Miami, this is a senior technical role sitting at the heart of the group's design and pre-construction function. The successful candidate will take the lead on MEP and Fire Life Safety (FLS) coordination across multiple concurrent hospitality projects, ensuring engineering systems are properly defined, integrated and construction-ready before projects move into procurement and delivery.

The position would suit an experienced MEP engineering professional who has worked on large-scale hotels, resorts, cruise-related hospitality, mixed-use or similarly complex developments and is comfortable operating across multiple projects and international locations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead MEP and FLS coordination through the pre-construction and design development phases across multiple regional projects.
  • Develop and review engineering strategies covering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, central plant, distribution and associated infrastructure.
  • Ensure MEP systems are effectively integrated with architecture, interiors, F&B, operational requirements and overall design intent.
  • Work closely with architects, designers, project/construction teams, operations, procurement and external engineering consultants.
  • Identify technical risks, design conflicts and infrastructure constraints early and drive solutions before construction.
  • Review system capacity, sizing, resilience, redundancy and lifecycle performance.
  • Ensure engineering solutions consider guest comfort, operational efficiency, sustainability, energy performance and long-term maintainability.
  • Provide technical input into project scope, budgets, constructability reviews and value engineering.
  • Review engineering deliverables and ensure technical comments and design issues are resolved ahead of key project stage gates.
  • Support tender and procurement readiness by ensuring engineering packages are appropriately coordinated and complete.
  • Undertake periodic site visits across the Caribbean to review alignment between approved design intent and project execution.
  • Provide technical support during construction where required, including engineering RFIs and coordination issues.

Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates offering:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 10–15 years' experience in MEP design, engineering or technical coordination.
  • Experience delivering large, technically complex projects, ideally within hotels, resorts or hospitality-led developments.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience across architecture, interiors and construction.
  • Good understanding of Fire Life Safety systems and standards.
  • Experience managing external engineers, consultants and specialist technical partners.
  • Strong technical judgement combined with a practical understanding of cost, constructability and operations.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Professional Engineer / PE status would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Comfortable travelling approximately 50% of the time across the Caribbean.

This is an opportunity to join a substantial international organisation with an active development pipeline across the Caribbean and to play a key role in shaping the engineering strategy and technical delivery of a diverse portfolio of hospitality destinations.
