Information Technology Manager

Position: IT Manager

Location: Herndon, VA (Hybrid work schedule).

Position Objective: GAP Solutions is seeking a results-driven IT Manager to lead a corporate IT team and be hands-on as needed across infrastructure, cloud services, and end-user technologies. This role is ideal for a technical leader with strong project management skills, deep experience in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, and a solid background in networking. The IT Manager will be responsible for day-to-day IT operations, project delivery, system reliability, and continuous improvement of IT services in support of business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

IT Operations & Leadership

• Manage an IT team, including task prioritization, performance feedback, and skills development.
• Oversee daily IT operations to ensure system availability, reliability, and security.
• Serve as the final escalation point for technical and operational issues.
• Manage vendor relationships and service agreements, performance monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure cost-effective and reliable IT services.
• Control IT budget and manage expenditure.

Project Management

• Lead and deliver IT projects from planning through execution, including cloud initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and system improvements.
• Prioritize projects according to business needs and deadlines.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, manage timelines, and control scope.
• Track project progress, risks, and dependencies; provide regular status updates.

Cloud & Collaboration Platforms

• Administer and optimize Microsoft Azure environments, including identity, compute, networking, and security components.
• Manage Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID).
• Support cloud migrations, hybrid environments, and cost optimization initiatives.

Networking & Infrastructure

• Oversee network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
• Ensure secure and reliable connectivity across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Partner with vendors and service providers for hardware, software, and managed services.

Security & Compliance

• Control risks to the organization by maintaining and implementing cybersecurity best practices.
• Implement and maintain NIST 800-171 and CMMC security compliance across cloud, network, and endpoint environments.
• Oversee vulnerability management, patching, and incident response activities.
• Lead audits, compliance requirements, and policy enforcement as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• 5 years of progressive IT experience, including leadership or team management responsibilities.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, routing, switching)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft 365, etc.)
• Project Management certifications (PMP, CAPM, Agile/Scrum)
• Networking or security certifications (Cisco, CompTIA Network , Security )
• Experience supporting hybrid or cloud-first environments
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
