Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Assistant Manager to join our leadership team and help oversee the daily operation of our luxury lifestyle hotel in Manhattan's Meatpacking District.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, leading a diverse housekeeping team, and ensuring a seamless guest experience throughout the property. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with luxury hotel experience and a strong understanding of unionized hotel operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily management of Housekeeping operations, including guestrooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, rooftop, and pool areas.
- Conduct detailed inspections of guest rooms and public spaces to ensure luxury-level cleanliness standards.
- Supervise, coach, train, and develop Housekeeping team members.
- Coordinate room assignments, room status updates, and departmental workflow.
- Partner with Engineering and Front Office teams to ensure guest requests and maintenance concerns are addressed promptly.
- Assist with inventories, purchasing, payroll administration, scheduling, and labor management.
- Respond to guest requests and service recovery situations in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain Lost & Found procedures and departmental records.
- Facilitate daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing team training.
- Support departmental compliance with company policies, safety standards, and service expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Housekeeping supervisory or management experience in a hotel environment.
- Luxury hotel experience strongly preferred.
- Previous HTC Local 6 union experience is required.
- Experience managing multilingual teams.
- Working knowledge of labor scheduling, productivity standards, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Opera PMS, Microsoft Office, and hotel operating systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
