Job Title: Famly Support Worker

Work Location: Westfield, Ma.

Job Summary:

The Family Support Worker provides direct, strengths-based support to children, caregivers, and families. The position focuses on helping families access resources, build protective factors, and strengthen stability through advocacy, parent education, case management, and connection to community supports. The Family Support Worker promotes a welcoming environment and works in partnership with families to identify needs, set goals, and build long-term resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assess the needs and strengths of families requesting support; engage and support families using a strength-based approach;
    • Collaborate and provide outreach to local community-based network of service providers including, but not limited to, any community, municipal, state, federal, non-profit, for-profit, or private sector individual/organization that provides services/opportunities for children and families pertaining to referrals, resources and advocacy;
    • Facilitate public awareness of the FRC; support development and implementation of a robust outreach plan to proactively bring families into the FRC; engage with court clerks, probation officers, juvenile court judges, school principals, school adjustment counselors, school guidance counselors, police, community-based family agencies, health and behavioral health facilities, after-school and out-of-school programs, and neighborhood associations
    • Host family, youth and group support groups for program participants and their families; engage parents in leadership development activities such as workshops/trainings; provide family members with connections to mutual support networks;
    • Develop the FRC calendar; actively engage in the planning process and implementation of community and Coalition events;
    • Represent the FRC in the community and state-wide networking/educational conferences; attend FRC Meetings, agency/department meetings and trainings;
    • Other duties as requested and assigned by the FRC Program Manager and FRC Director.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High school diploma minimally required.
    • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in office management or related field preferred.
    • Experience and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in a community-setting using a family-centered, strength-based approach
    • Must be available to work weekend and evening hours
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet agency requirements for driving history records and criminal background checks
    • Exceptional demonstrated interppersonal and writing skills
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Corel; and related office technology
    • Bilingual in Spanish/English, preferred
