With thriving clinics in Gainesville and Mont Claire, we are now seeking a Medical Director (MD/DO) who will also serve as Laboratory Director in compliance with CLIA requirements. This physician will play a vital role in providing clinical oversight, ensuring compliance, supporting mid-level providers, and guiding the growth of our men’s health services.
Position Summary
The Medical Director/Laboratory Director is responsible for:
- Clinical oversight of physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), and medical assistants (MAs).
- On-site presence at each clinic twice monthly for supervision and training.
- Ongoing availability for clinical direction (phone, text, email).
- Continuous training in TRT, peptide therapy, weight management, and other protocols.
- Chart reviews and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Oversight of the moderate complexity laboratory on-site, per CLIA standards.
- Partnering with leadership on patient satisfaction, budgeting, and operational quality.
- Recruitment and onboarding of new mid-level providers.
Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
- Active license to practice medicine or osteopathy in the state of Virginia (or eligibility to obtain).
- Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
- Meets CLIA Laboratory Director requirements for moderate complexity testing, including one of the following pathways:
- * Licensed MD/DO/DPM with board certification in anatomic or clinical pathology, OR
- * Licensed MD/DO/DPM with at least 1 year directing/supervising nonwaived testing AND at least 20 CE hours in laboratory practice, OR
- * Earned doctoral degree in a laboratory science with HHS-approved board certification and 1 year directing/supervising nonwaived testing plus 20 CE hours, OR
- * Master’s degree in laboratory science with 1 year nonwaived testing experience, 1 year supervisory experience, and 20 CE hours, OR
- * Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science with 2 years nonwaived testing experience, 2 years supervisory experience, and 20 CE hours.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining CLIA compliance and patient safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in anatomic or clinical pathology (ABP or AOBP).
- Prior experience as a CLIA-certified Laboratory Director.
- Multiple years of supervisory experience overseeing PAs/NPs and clinical staff.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in expanding clinical services.
- Experience working in men’s health, hormone therapy, or related specialties.
