Job Description
The Wakefield Public Schools seeks an enthusiastic, student-centered Theater Arts teacher at the Galvin Middle School. The ideal candidate will be responsible for instructing students in foundational acting techniques with a primary goal of fostering clear, confident, and effective public speaking. This role is fundamentally focused on creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students can build self-esteem, learn to articulate their ideas persuasively, and master interpersonal communication skills. A strong background in theater or speech, a proven ability to connect with early adolescents, and a passion for empowering students to find their voice are essential for success.
Responsibilities
- Align curriculum and instruction to the National Core Arts Standards for Theatre and the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework.
- Foster empathy, clear communication, and public speaking skills through student performance, discourse, and collaboration.
- Create a differentiated and inclusive studio environment that supports the diverse creative, social, and emotional needs of all students.
- Assess and evaluate student progress in performance skills and creative expression using formative and summative measures, such as performance-based rubrics and critiques.
- Communicate effectively with parents, administration, and students regarding curriculum content, classroom expectations, and individual student growth.
- Fulfill all professional duties, including attending faculty meetings, participating in professional development, and contributing to the school community.

Job Requirements
- Massachusetts certification in Theater Arts
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Bachelor degree
- Citizenship, residency, or a work visa in the United States is required
