Full-time 1:1 Registered Nurse for medically complex student
Position Type: Full-time school year position starting September 2, 2026
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor’s Degree preferred
-Current and valid MA RN license
-Current and valid CPR/AED certification
-At least two years of relevant experience, pediatric experience preferred
-Excellent health assessment skills required
-Exceptional interpersonal skills
-Employment is based on successful completion of CORI and fingerprinting background checks
-Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: District Nurse Leader
JOB SUMMARY
The 1:1 nurse will coordinate the smooth and efficient operation of the health services in order to realize the maximum positive impact of the student’s educational experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):
-Provide student direct care and implementation of an individualized health care plan
-Collaborate with program personnel and the student’s family to create the best learning environment regardless of the individual’s health care needs
-Assist in implementing accommodations for physical and social-emotional support
-Assist with mobility support during ambulation and transfers, working with adaptive equipment as needed to promote student safety
-Accompany the student on field trips
-Monitor the student’s vital signs and maintain a clear, stable airway
-Apply current professional knowledge regarding the following if needed:
Management of G-tube care, including administering medication and feedings through G- tube/J-tube per physician orders
-Communicate daily with various members of the district team
-Administer medication in accordance with school policy/procedures.
-Assist the individual with daily living activities, e.g., lunch, transportation (such as assisting the student in and out of a vehicle), personal care, and toileting
-Assist the student with classroom activities as needed
-Document in a thorough manner, utilizing an electronic database (SNAP experience preferred)
-Perform other nursing services per job description and as assigned by the Nurse Leader and/or Building Principal
