Responsibilities
- Assist residents and patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor vital signs and observe changes in health status, promptly reporting any concerns to nursing staff.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols, including catheter care and wound management.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals with dementia or memory care needs, including those with Alzheimer's disease.
- Document patient care activities accurately in medical records while respecting HIPAA privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, or behavioral health units to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current state licensure.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, sub-acute or post-acute care facilities, or home care environments.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for medical documentation and patient records management.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support procedures.
- Prior experience with specialized care such as hospice, infectious disease management, or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort.
