JOB SUMMARY:
This position includes teaching dual credit Learning Framework courses at Ball High School.
Duties: (or attach job description):
-Demonstrates and applies a thorough and accurate knowledge of their teaching field and discipline.
-Maintains currency in subject matter through professional development.
-Meets all classes on time as scheduled.
-Effectively employs teaching and learning strategies, including instructional technology when appropriate, to maximize student learning and meet diverse students’ needs.
-Regularly evaluates teaching methods and uses data to continually improve instructional effectiveness.
-Encourages the development of communication skills and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
-Develops and uses evaluation methods that fairly measure student progress toward outcomes.
-Communicates effectively with and provides feedback to students in a timely manner.
-Maintains accurate records of student progress.
-Submits final grade rosters and supporting documents according to established deadlines.
-Prepares, distributes, and submits syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections in accordance with program, division, and College procedures.
-Maintains familiarity with and adheres to College Policies and Procedures.
-Maintains accessibility to students, high school partners, and Galveston College colleagues.
-Fosters and maintains effective working relationships with students, high school partners, colleagues, and supervisors.
-Maintains confidentiality of student and institutional information.
-Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to take action in case of emergency.
-Requires regular and predictable on-site attendance.
-Other duties as assigned.
Additional Expectations:
-Teach dual credit courses at partnering high schools or designated locations as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree (or at least 18 graduate credit hours) in Education, Psychology, or related.
Preferred qualifications:
-Master’s degree. Prior experience teaching dual-credit classes.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must meet the minimum educational requirements for teaching as defined by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) for the assigned discipline and course level.
- Ability to communicate and facilitate learning effectively and work collaboratively with both high school and college students.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret academic content, technical procedures, or regulations.
- Ability to write reports, prepare course materials, and communicate effectively with students and school administrators.
- Commitment to teaching and learning in a student-centered, outcome-based environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, high school faculty/staff, and Galveston College colleagues.
Special Requirements:
- Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment.
