Job Title: School-Based Mental Health Counselor
Location: Stark County, Ohio - North Canton
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm (some evening hours may be required; flexible scheduling available)
Pay: $21.75–$28.50 per hour (based on experience and licensure)
Job Overview
The School-Based Mental Health Counselor provides counseling and support services that help students and families succeed both in and out of school. You will conduct assessments, create treatment plans, and provide counseling that promotes student well-being. You will also work closely with school staff and families to ensure coordinated support.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or Marriage & Family Therapy
- Active Ohio license: LPC, LSW, MFT, IMFT, LISW, or LPCC
- Exam-eligible and newly licensed candidates are encouraged to apply
- Experience in mental health or school-based counseling preferred
- Experience supporting youth and families a plus
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and/or CPR certification (obtainable within 90 days of hire)
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, communication, and collaboration
- Proficiency with electronic records and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate empathy and professionalism
- Ability to perform counseling duties in school, home, and community settings. This role may occasionally require lifting items up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. *
