Work Location: Red Rock Elementary School
Contract Length: Winter Sport
Minimum Salary: $2,500.00
Maximum Salary: $2,500.00
High School Diploma or Equivalency
AND
Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/bureaus/licensure/how-to-apply/athletic-coach-7-12/)
from the New Mexico Public Education Department as well as completing the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association. (www.nmact.org)
Qualifications
WORK ENVIRONMENT: On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.
SUPERVISES: In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support the staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
JOB GOAL: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of
accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc. Work with students interested in sports, provide necessary practice support and advice for a team to be successful against opposing teams in a sports season. Teach and enforce rules and regulations.
Involves work in the evenings and weekends.

Qualifications
- Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport. (Major sports)
- The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and, at the same time, must continue to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
