Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to maintain optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Assist dentists during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop medical images such as X-rays while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment notes, and medical histories in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed by practicing proper sterilization, handling medical waste appropriately, and maintaining a sterile environment.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current CPR certification.
- Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings with familiarity in pediatric-specific procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record keeping.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and HIPAA regulations to ensure compliance and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while demonstrating excellent patient care skills.
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring, medical imaging techniques, and medical coding practices related to dental records.
