Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Mill/Lathe Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining CNC milling machines and lathes to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in machining tools, blueprint reading, and measurement will ensure that every part meets the highest quality standards. Responsibilities
- Set up CNC milling machines and lathes, including machine calibration and tool selection, ensuring optimal performance for each job.
- Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM programming software to create precise machining operations.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining specifications and tolerances.
- Operate manual machining tools such as grinders, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and hand tools for fine adjustments and quality control.
- Conduct precision measurements during machining processes to verify dimensions using measurement instruments like micrometers and calipers.
- Perform machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and adjustments to maintain high efficiency and safety standards.
- Inspect finished parts using CNC quality inspection techniques and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Assist in machine setup for CNC lathe and milling operations, including fixture installation and tooling changes.
- Maintain detailed records of production runs, machine settings, inspection results, and quality control data.
Experience
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CAD/CAM software like SolidWorks or similar is preferred.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and precision measurement instruments such as micrometers and bore gauges.
- Knowledge of machining tools, manual machining techniques, grinding operations, and metalworking processes.
- Ability to perform machine setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance tasks independently.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately is essential.
- Basic math skills for calculating measurements, tolerances, and machining parameters are required.
- Experience with CNC quality inspection methods including GD&T standards is highly desirable.
