Shipping Clerk- 6am-2pm

Position Summary

Galleria Medical Pharmacy is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and organized Shipping Associate to join our pharmacy operations team. This position is responsible for preparing, packaging, and shipping prescription medications to patients and healthcare providers throughout the United States.

The Shipping Associate will handle both temperature-sensitive (cold chain) and standard room-temperature shipments, ensuring medications are packaged accurately, securely, and in accordance with established pharmacy procedures.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of prescription medications throughout the shipping process.

Key Responsibilities

Prescription Packaging & Shipping

• Prepare and package prescription medications for shipment following pharmacist verification and authorization for release.
• Accurately match prescription orders with shipping labels, packaging materials, and delivery instructions.
• Verify patient names, shipping addresses, and order details before shipment.
• Package room-temperature medications using approved shipping materials and procedures.
• Generate shipping labels and coordinate shipments through designated carriers.
• Ensure all packages are properly sealed, labeled, and prepared for carrier pickup.
• Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation.

Cold Chain Packaging & Temperature Control

• Prepare and package refrigerated medications using approved insulated shipping containers, gel packs, and temperature-control materials.
• Follow established cold chain packaging procedures to maintain required medication storage temperatures during transit.
• Properly condition and handle refrigerants to minimize the risk of medication freezing or exposure to excessive heat.
• Verify that appropriate packaging materials and shipping methods are selected based on approved procedures.
• Follow established requirements for cold chain shipments, including approved shipping durations and carrier service levels.
• Identify and report potential temperature excursions, packaging concerns, or shipping delays that could affect medication quality.
• Assist with maintaining and organizing cold chain packaging supplies and equipment.

Shipping Operations & Inventory Management

• Monitor daily shipping queues and prioritize orders to meet carrier pickup deadlines.
• Track shipments and assist in resolving delivery delays, lost packages, and other shipping concerns.
• Maintain adequate inventory of shipping boxes, insulated containers, packing materials, labels, and refrigerants.
• Receive, organize, and properly store shipping supplies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping workspace.
• Assist with daily shipping reports, inventory counts, and operational documentation.
• Coordinate with pharmacy staff to ensure prescriptions are shipped accurately and on time.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

• Follow Galleria Medical Pharmacy's standard operating procedures (SOPs) for prescription packaging, shipping, and cold chain management.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable HIPAA requirements.
• Report shipping errors, damaged packages, temperature concerns, or other quality issues to pharmacy management.
• Participate in required training and competency assessments related to shipping procedures and cold chain packaging.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase shipping accuracy, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
• Ensure all shipping activities comply with applicable pharmacy policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn shipping software and pharmacy management systems.
• Ability to follow written procedures and complete required documentation.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable attendance and ability to meet daily shipping deadlines.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift packages weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in shipping, fulfillment, warehouse operations, or inventory management.
• Experience working in a pharmacy, healthcare, or pharmaceutical distribution environment.
• Familiarity with FedEx, UPS, or other shipping platforms.
• Experience packaging refrigerated or temperature-sensitive products.
• Knowledge of cold chain shipping procedures and temperature-controlled packaging.
