Under the guidance and supervision of the Health and Wellness Director, the Wellness Coach is responsible for meeting members’ needs, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and guiding members through Wellness Orientations. By maintaining a consistent presence on the wellness floor, the Wellness Coach is integral in creating a positive and encouraging environment welcoming to all YMCA members, while being an enthusiastic representative of the Gallatin Valley YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintains and cleans wellness floor and equipment according to the daily schedule or as requested.
- Executes and implements all policies and procedures as outlined in the YMCA Health and Wellness Binder.
- Meets with new members and provides Wellness Orientations for the proper use and techniques of cardio/strength equipment.
- Provides members with information regarding Y programs, including group exercise classes, personal training and others.
- Assists group exercise instructors with pre and post class needs.
- Assists the HWD in checking all equipment to ensure proper maintenance.
- Reports equipment in need of repair to the HWD immediately.
- Ability to attend all training and meetings as required, even if scheduled outside normal working or regular scheduled hours.
- Meets the standard for communication, attendance, punctuality and dependability; keeping in confidence matters related to office or personnel; and, exercises good judgment around areas of responsibility.
- Ability to engage in member conversations and build genuine relationships creating a welcoming environment for people from all walks of life.
- Demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, and commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Fitness related field is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- The candidate must have a general knowledge of principles of health and fitness.
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPR and First Aid and AED Certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Must be willing to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
