Job description
We are currently seeking an experienced Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist to join our team. The Surgical Assistant supports our surgeons with consults, procedures, and surgical care in the areas of maxillofacial oral surgery and cosmetic surgery. The Assistant provides a safe, sterile environment for patients, preparing patients, managing instruments and equipment, assisting surgeons as the scrub tech, assists circulating nurse, OR nurse and other team members, and ensuring and organized, smooth-functioning operating room.
Responsibilities
- Stay updated and knowledgeable of the surgical procedures to be performed
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments based on surgeon preference cards
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical procedures
- Assist surgeon by passing instruments and supplies, anticipating needs of the surgical team
- Ensure specialized equipment is available and functioning properly prior to surgery
- Instrument sterilization
- Cleans, restocks supplies, and turnover rooms
- Communication effectively with nursing staff and others to ensure highest quality care
Qualifications and Skills
· High school diploma
· 1-year Surgical Assistant or Surgical Tech experience
· BLS certification
· Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
Preferred Qualifications
· Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
· Coursework/Training in Surgical Tech program, willingness to pursue certification preferred
· Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team
ACLS, PALS certification
Schedule:
- Full-time Day shift
- Monday – Thursday, occasional Friday partial shift
- No call, weekends, or holidays
- Overtime and overnight opportunities with extra compensation
Compensation:
- $30-45 per hour
- Paid time off
