Gallagher’s Assisted Living Employment Expectations

Summary:

Responsible for caring for elderly, disabled, mentally ill, or injured residents in a healthcare setting and performs direct care duties, including bathing, feeding, dressing, and ambulating.

Primary Responsibilities: (But not limited to):

• Provide hands-on care
• Perform routine tasks under the supervision of the Administrator
• Take a resident’s vitals
• Answer calls for help and determine if additional help is needed
• Prepare and serve meals
• Feed residents and mash up food if necessary
• Bathe and dress resident’s
• Make beds and perform housekeeping duties
• Take residents on walks
• Provide skin care
• Set up any equipment as needed
• Store and move supplies
• Observe resident’s physical, mental, and emotional conditions
• Observe fluid intake and output
• Report abnormal changes or patterns to Administrator
• Develop nurturing relationships with resident’s
• Empty bedpans and change dirty linens
• Report violent behavior
• Follow proper procedures for lifting and moving resident’s
• Administer medications as prescribed by primary physician as per MAR

PCA / CNA must not provide:

• Any tasks out of a PCA / CNA scope of practice
• Irrigation of the body cavity, including, without limitation, irrigation to the ear
• Insertion of an enema, rectal suppository, or a vaginal douche
• Administration of injections of fluids into veins, muscles or the skin
• Loaning, barrowing, or accepting gifts of money or personal items from a resident
• Accepting or retaining money or gratuities from a resident
• Becoming the legal guardian of a resident or being names as an attorney-in-fact in a power of attorney executed by the client.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Every employee must have the ability to lift 40 pounds
• Every employee must have reliable transportation to and from work
• Every employee must be first aid certified
• Every employee must have the willingness to work and care for the residents of Gallaghers Assisted Living
