About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a growing organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on, self-sufficient accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across multiple entities.
This role offers strong exposure to both for-profit and nonprofit accounting environments, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organization’s financial operations and reporting.
What You’ll Do
- Own and support the month-end close process across multiple entities
- Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger
- Conduct bank reconciliations, research discrepancies, and resolve issues independently
- Assist with financial statement preparation and internal reporting
- Oversee and support sales tax analysis, including handling more complex taxability questions
- Partner with external auditors (Deloitte) during audit and filing processes
- Manage and improve accounting workflows in a multi-entity, multi-location environment
- Support fixed assets, AP, and GL functions (AR is minimal)
- Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of accounting experience at a Senior Accountant level
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and full-cycle accounting
- Proven ability to own the close process independently
- Experience with:
- Journal entries
- Reconciliations
- GL management
- Financial statement prep
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with imperfect systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to research complex accounting questions (including taxability)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in both for-profit and nonprofit environments
- Exposure to multi-entity or multi-grant accounting
- Sales tax experience
