Overview
The Branch Consulting Director is a leadership role within the US GBS Benefits business line, responsible for developing Consultants that can deliver strategic, optimized solutions by leveraging industry expertise and the full spectrum of Gallagher solutions and resources. This role combines technical and tactical leadership with a strong focus on consulting excellence. The Director will guide client-facing discussions, instill best-in-class consulting methodologies, and manage a high-performing health consulting team.
A core responsibility is to build and scale a high-impact team by utilizing existing infrastructure, identifying and addressing capability gaps through new tools and training, and strategically recruiting top external talent to enhance capabilities and expand market reach. The Branch Consulting Director plays a pivotal role in driving Client Satisfaction, measured through increased Net Promoter Scores (NPS) and Client Retention. This includes serving as an escalation point to strengthen client relationships and foster strategic innovation.
Success in this role requires strong business acumen, deep knowledge of Gallagher offerings and resources, along with a growth-oriented mindset focused on whitespace expansion. As a leader, the ideal candidate will demonstrate patience in change management, foster a culture of continuous learning, and provide timely, constructive feedback. They will be an articulate communicator with the ability to coach and develop a team in both technical and interpersonal skills—ultimately creating game-changing Consultants.

Leadership
- Proactively identifies and addresses potential issues that may impact client retention, while mentoring others to adopt the same forward-thinking approach.
- Lead through influence, inspiring action and alignment across teams without relying solely on authority.

- Align financial strategies with long-term business objectives and optimize resource allocation.
- Track and report on key business metrics and growth targets, for the Branch and individuals.
Team Development
- Build and scale high-performing consulting team by leveraging existing infrastructure and creating new tools and training programs.
- Recruit top external talent to enhance capabilities and expand market reach.
- Skilled in both technical and soft skill coaching and mentorship to develop well-rounded, client-focused Consultants.
- Promote consulting excellence in client discussions, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.
- As a manager, advocates for others and seeks opportunities for continued development, providing positive and construction feedback in real-time to enhance performance.
Client Strategy & Relationship Management
- Guide Consultants in delivering strategic, optimized solutions using Gallagher’s full suite of offerings, including Point Solution capabilities.
- Serves as a trusted escalation point for client issues, navigating sensitive topics with professionalism.
- Drive improvements in Client Satisfaction, measured through Net Promoter Score (NPS) and retention metrics.
- Monitor and address gaps in scope of work, ensuring client engagements are comprehensive and value-driven.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Practice Leaders, Business Line leadership, and Shared Services to ensure alignment and integration of consulting strategies.
- Champion best practice methodologies across teams to drive consistency, quality, and innovation.
- Act as a connector between departments to streamline processes and enhance client outcomes.
Change Management & Innovation
- Lead with patience and adaptability through organizational change and evolving market dynamics.
- Encourage a growth mindset across the team to embrace new techniques and innovative approaches.
- Identify whitespace opportunities and drive expansion into new consulting areas.
- Work with Branch Leaders to incorporate M&A activity.
Reporting Relationship
- Solid line reporting to Branch Area President.
- Dotted line reporting to Regional Consulting Leader.
- Dotted line management of Branch Consulting Directors.
About You
Required: Bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience required. Excellent knowledge of the insurance brokerage business.
