Galison Publishing is looking for an Associate Production Design & Pre-Press Manager to serve as the primary liaison between the Design and Production sourcing teams, ensuring efficient prepress workflow. This is a hands-on role requiring collaboration across departments while independently creating, updating, and managing pre-press digital files for our vendors.
Key Responsibilities: The person in this role will review vendor templates for accuracy, prepare files from approved design layouts, catalog interdepartmental reprint notes, implement changes for reprint schedules and send files to the production team for vendor output. With vendors, they will troubleshoot file issues, convey color comments and provide file updates from first round through the final production samples. They will also manage approvals of proofs with Design, and work with them to ensure hitting schedule goals. Lastly they will participate in Design and Production check-in meetings, maintain the font library protocols, and engage in Production/Design projects as needed.

Qualifications: Applicants will need a minimum of 5 years’ experience in prepress production, production design and project workflow management in a design-led publishing or consumer products brand with illustrated and non-illustrated content. An advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (including but not limited to Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) is also required as is a solid proficiency in font management and server management protocols. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to apply, implement and maintain brand standards, including licensing style guides to 2D and 3D design-led consumer products and packaging will also be needed. Lastly, applicants will need excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Schedule: Employees at Galison follow a flexible hybrid schedule of working a minimum of 3 days per week and up to 4 days per week in our New York City office, depending on project and business needs. Hiring Salary Range: $68,000 - $72,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the expected salary for this position and will be determined by factors including but not limited to an applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, and geographic location as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This position is also eligible for our profit share plan.
