What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel attendant position at Galesburg Animal Hospital?
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and supervision for animals in the kennel
- Feed, water, and exercise animals according to their individual needs
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals and report any concerns to the supervisor
- Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing and brushing
- Provide basic training and socialization for dogs
- Interact with customers and provide excellent customer service
Requirements:
- Previous experience handling dogs in a professional setting
- Strong customer service skills
- Knowledge of pet care and basic grooming techniques
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Comfortable working with animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures and animal restraint techniques is a plus
