What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oracle Database Administrator position at Galent?
We are seeking an experienced Oracle DBA to support the installation, administration, performance tuning, and security of Oracle database environments across development, test, and production systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and upgrade Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c) on Linux/Unix/Windows
- Perform backup and recovery using RMAN and Data Pump
- Manage high availability and disaster recovery using Oracle RAC and Data Guard
- Monitor and tune database performance (SQL tuning, AWR, indexing, storage)
- Apply patches, PSU/CPU updates, and security fixes
- Manage users, roles, privileges, and database security
- Support database migrations, upgrades, and cloud initiatives
- Collaborate with application teams on schema design and performance optimization
Required Skills
- Strong Oracle DBA experience (11g/12c/19c)
- Oracle GoldenGate administration and performance tuning
- RMAN backup/recovery and SQL performance tuning
- RAC, Data Guard, and high‑availability architectures
- Shell scripting and Linux/Unix administration
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
Preferred
- OCI or AWS RDS for Oracle experience
- PL/SQL knowledge
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
