Location: Bellevue, WA (Onsite/Hybrid)

Job Summary
  • We are seeking a Senior Go Engineer to deliver complex third-party open-source package upgrades in a large monorepo environment.
  • The role owns the engineering path from package assessment and version change through dependency remediation, build and existing test stabilization, applicable pre-submits, change submission, and migration reporting.
  • This role focuses on fixing and executing existing tests. Creation of new unit or integration test suites is not required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assess assigned packages, dependency trees, API change exposure, build impact, and upgrade complexity before execution.
  • Upgrade Go modules and package versions, separate version bumps and local patches where required, and safely reapply or retire patches.
  • Resolve breaking API changes in upgraded libraries and update directly affected downstream callers within the approved scope.
  • Diagnose and remediate Go, Bazel build failures, existing test failures, and applicable pre-submit failures attributable to package upgrades.
  • Maintain Capybara configurations and troubleshoot source synchronization or integration issues associated with package changes.
  • Use approved internal tooling and reusable automation to accelerate analysis, failure triage, validation, and evidence capture.
  • Submit review-ready change lists with clear technical rationale, validation evidence, patch status, and traceable migration records.
  • Document and escalate material package deviations, external blockers, and cross-product dependency impacts with actionable evidence.
Required Skills

  • Transitive dependency resolution
  • API refactoring
  • Bazel

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with complex dependency graphs, generated code, multi-target changes, and high-impact API migrations.
  • Building reusable upgrade playbooks or automation within controlled enterprise environments.
Qualifications
  • 7 years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on development and debugging in Go.
  • Strong command of Go modules, semantic versioning, transitive dependency resolution, package compatibility, and idiomatic API refactoring.
  • Practical experience with Bazel, go build, go test, CI pre-submit pipelines, and troubleshooting large or monorepo-based build environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to isolate compiler, linker, build, test, and runtime failures introduced by dependency upgrades.
  • Proficiency with Git-based change management, code reviews, merge conflict resolution, and local patch lifecycle management.
  • Strong Linux and scripting skills for investigation, repeatable validation, and engineering automation.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, disciplined documentation practices, and effective collaboration with reviewers and language subject matter experts.
  • Expected outcomes include accepted package upgrades, successful builds, passing existing tests, passing applicable pre-submits, completed change list submissions, and documented migration reporting.
