Position Overview
Galena USD 499 is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Strength & Conditioning Instructor / Coach to lead and develop a comprehensive physical performance program for middle school and high school student-athletes. This individual will play a key role in improving athletic performance, promoting injury prevention, and fostering a culture of discipline, accountability, and lifelong fitness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs for middle and high school students
- Work collaboratively with head coaches across all sports to support athletic development
- Teach proper lifting techniques, speed and agility training, and injury prevention strategies
- Supervise students in the weight room and ensure a safe training environment
- Monitor and track student progress and performance metrics
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive character development
- Maintain and organize equipment and facilities
- Ensure compliance with school policies and safety standards
Qualifications
- Current Kansas Teaching License
- Previous coaching or strength training experience with middle/high school students
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to motivate and engage students of varying skill levels
