Shot Lab Assistant II- Allergy and Asthma Hixson

This role work in multiple location as stated:

Mon-Wed at Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Thursday at Dalton, GA, and Friday rotating between Ft Oglethorpe and Gunbarrel

Summary/Objective:

Participates in the activities of the Shot Lab as directed by the physicians.

Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

• Identifies patients in Shot Lab module of PCIS.
• Works with the clerical support team to identify any changes of demographic or insurance information as well as educate patients if there are any outstanding balances.
• Locates appropriate vials.
• Confirms patient identity, using full name and date of birth as identifiers.
• Determines timeliness of patient visit and calculates appropriate dose.
• Obtains peak flow, if applicable.
• Records patients answers to the health questions, prior to administering.
• Administers allergen/venom injection(s).
• Administers biologic medication(s).
• Advises patient to wait 20 minutes.
• Records information on flow sheet and in Shot Lab module.
• Calculates/adjusts doses for modified rush.
• Administers/records modified rush.
• Obtains vital signs related to modified rush.
• Recognizes systemic symptoms and manages systemic reactions appropriately.

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

• Educates patients about all aspects of care and treatment.
• Cleans and stocks Shot Lab.
• Distributes medication samples, as appropriate.
• Ensures that biohazard waste is packaged and retrieved appropriately.
• Assist the Clinical Support team as needed for patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current driver's license, diploma (MA/CMA), certificate (CMA), TN and GA nursing license (LPN), or diploma for MA, LPN, or RN in progress (student).
