What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer position at Galaxy Enterprises, LLC?
EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
- Machine Setup: Set up CNC lathes by installing and aligning, tooling and work pieces according to job specifications.
- Programming: Write, modify and troubleshoot CNC programs using G and M codes or CAM software to control the machining process.
- Operational Control: Operate CNC lathes to perform turning, facing, threading, grooving and other machining operations on metal and non-metal materials.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect first article and parts randomly, during production run, using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and gauges to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Tool Maintenance: Monitor tool wear and change cutting tools as necessary to maintain quality and productivity.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines, such as: cleaning, lubricating, reporting malfunctioning tools and equipment and replacing worn components, to ensure optimal performance.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including setup sheets, tooling logs and inspection reports.
- Problem Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues with CNC programs, machine malfunctions and quality deviations to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate with tooling engineers, supervisors, and other team members to optimize machining processes and resolve production challenges.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Machinist, with proficiency in machine setup, programming and operation.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages (G-code), (CAD/CAM software, desirable) and machining techniques. Familiarity with Haas controls is also desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and geometric tolerances to produce accurate parts.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude for troubleshooting technical issues and implementing effective solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
