Galasso’s Bakery is a full-line bakery producing hearth baked sourdough, sliced and French breads as well as dinner rolls, hamburger buns, hot dog buns, and specialty breads. Galasso’s produces over 300 different bread items for restaurants, hotels, theme parks, sport complexes, quick-serve restaurants, hospitals, and government complexes.
Summary
Galasso’s is looking for a Shipping Lead. The position reports to the Shipping Manager and also works closely with and supports the production department. Is responsible for overseeing the daily shipping operations, ensuring the accurate and timely distribution of bakery products. This role includes supervising the shipping team, coordinating with production and transportation teams, and maintaining high standards for order accuracy and delivery efficiency. The Lead also ensures that all shipping activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.

Position Expectations:
- Supervise Shipping Team: Lead and manage the performance of shipping personnel, ensuring that all team members follow company protocols and safety guidelines.
- Coordinate Shipments: Oversee daily shipping activities, ensuring that all orders are packed, labeled, and shipped according to schedule.
- Monitor Inventory of Shipping Supplies: Ensure adequate levels of shipping materials such as boxes, labels, and pallets, and reorder as needed.
- Ensure Order Accuracy: Verify the accuracy of outgoing shipments, including correct product, quantity, and packaging specifications.
- Collaborate with Departments: Work closely with production, sales, and transportation teams to ensure seamless coordination of shipping and deliveries.
- Schedule and Track Deliveries: Arrange transportation and monitor delivery schedules to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all shipping equipment (pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.) is in proper working condition and coordinate maintenance as needed.
- Enforce Safety Procedures: Ensure that all team members adhere to safety standards and regulations and conduct regular safety training.
- Prepare Shipping Reports: Track and report shipping data, including order fulfillment rates, delays, and any issues with transportation.
- Train and Develop Staff: Provide training to new hires and ongoing development to the shipping team to improve efficiency and performance.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping or warehouse operations, preferably in a food production environment.
3. Prior experience in a supervisory role is highly preferred.
4. Strong knowledge of shipping processes, logistics, and inventory management.
5. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
6. Proficient in the use of warehouse management systems and shipping software.
7. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.
8. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
9. Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.
