Whether it's helping someone find their first Pokémon deck, running a packed One Piece tournament, teaching a new player how to play Magic, or making sure the store is clean and ready for Friday Night Magic, our Adventure Associates help create the experience that keeps customers coming back.

This is a part-time position, and most Adventure Associates work 20–30 hours per week, depending on store needs and your availability.

If you're looking for a job where you'll spend the day sitting around playing games, this isn't it. This is a retail position that requires hard work, initiative, flexibility, and a positive attitude. We love games, but we're here to provide an outstanding experience for our customers.

What You'll Do

No two days at Galactic Gamez are exactly the same. Some days you'll spend more time helping customers, while other days you'll be receiving inventory, stocking shelves, setting up tournaments, or making sure the store is looking its best.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing outstanding customer service to every customer who walks through our doors.
• Helping customers find products, answer questions, and discover new games.
• Operating our point-of-sale system and handling transactions accurately.
• Receiving, pricing, stocking, and organizing merchandise.
• Keeping the store clean, organized, and inviting.
• Setting up, running, and cleaning up after tournaments and special events.
• Assisting with food service during larger events when needed.
• Helping maintain displays, showcases, and gaming areas.
• Working with the rest of the team to create an amazing experience for our community.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

• Enjoys working with people and providing exceptional customer service.
• Is dependable, honest, and punctual.
• Is self-motivated and doesn't need to be constantly told what to do.
• Can stay productive even when things are slow.
• Takes pride in keeping things clean, organized, and presentable.
• Is comfortable learning new games and products (you don't need to know everything already).
• Can lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods.
• Is willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during special events.
• Has a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.

What Makes Someone Successful Here?

We don't believe in micromanaging.

If the shelves need stocked, tables need cleaned, trash needs taken out, product needs organized, or customers need help, we expect our Adventure Associates to notice those things and take initiative. There is always something that can be done to improve the store.

Flexibility is also important. Every day brings something different, and everyone helps wherever they're needed. While your primary responsibility is retail and customer service, there are always different projects, events, and tasks that come up throughout the day.

Working at a game store is different than shopping at one. While we all enjoy games, employees are here to work—not spend their shifts playing them.

Pay & Hours

• Starting Pay: $10.00 per hour
• After 6 months, employees who are meeting expectations are eligible for an increase to $12.00 per hour
• Part-time position
• Typically 20–30 hours per week, depending on business needs and availability

We're a locally owned small business, not a large corporation with hundreds of employees coming and going. Hiring and training a new Adventure Associate requires a significant investment of time, effort, and money.

Because of that, we ask that anyone accepting a position with Galactic Gamez intends to stay with us for at least one year. If you already know you're looking for something temporary or don't expect to stay for a minimum of a year, this probably isn't the right fit—and that's okay. We'd rather be upfront about our expectations so everyone starts on the same page.
