What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Casework Craftsman (Architectural Millwork) position at Gaithersburg Millwork & Cabinetry?
Do you turn shop drawings into flawless commercial cabinetry? At Gaithersburg Architectural Millwork, we deliver custom millwork and casework to discerning commercial clients—and we’re looking for a maker who obsesses over the details.
Ask yourself:
- Can you read blueprints and technical drawings and immediately visualize the build?
- Are laminates, veneers, and hardware choices second nature to you?
- Do you thrive around saws, routers, edge-banders, and hand tools—treating precision and safety as non-negotiables?
If so, here’s what you’ll do:
- Fabricate custom cabinets and specialty millwork from detailed shop drawings and specs
- Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools with accuracy and care
- Laminate and edge-band parts; assemble with dowels, screws, glue, and other fasteners
- Inspect fit and finish at every stage to meet our elevated quality standards
- Team up with engineers, supervisors, and installers to resolve build challenges
- Keep the shop clean and safe by following all safety procedures
What makes you a strong match:
- 3 years of experience in architectural millwork or custom cabinetmaking
- Expertise with wood species, laminates, veneers, and cabinet hardware
- Fluency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Hands-on skill with standard woodworking tools, equipment, and machines
- Work ethic rooted in detail, quality, and craftsmanship
- Ability to work solo or collaborate in a fast-paced team environment
Bonus points
- Familiarity with AWI standards
Bring your craftsmanship to a team that values precision as much as you do.
