We are seeking a highly skilled, dynamic and motivated Assistant Corporate Controller to join our growing accounting team at a publicly traded media and technology company focused on subscription-based streaming content centered around conscious media, yoga, wellness, and personal transformation. This role is responsible for the financial reporting, monthly close process, SEC reporting, and technical accounting while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. The Assistant Controller will play a pivotal role providing strategic support to the business through timely and accurate financial reporting and will work cross-functionally with finance, FP&A, content and engineering teams to support key decisions through partnering with the business, helping achieve the financial goals of a dynamic digital media business.
The ideal candidate has a strong fluency in public company accounting, revenue recognition (ASC 606), SOX 404b, driving process improvement, tax, and financial reporting, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Financial Reporting & Compliance: Maintain the general ledger and produce GAAP financial statements. Manage SEC reporting, including 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K filings.
- Operational Oversight: Lead all accounting functions, including day-to-day operations and the month-end closing process. Record and review general ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Internal Controls: Responsible for the design and effective operation of internal disclosure controls over financial reporting (SOX 404b).
- Team Leadership: Manage, coach, and mentor members of the accounting team.
- Specialized Accounting: Collaborate with the Content team to track and report costs for internally produced content.
- Tax & Audit:
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Drive compliance for tax filings (local, state, and foreign) and implement tax savings strategies.
- Strategic Support: Assist in preparing annual operating budgets and monthly financial projections. Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Certification: Active CPA license. State of Colorado preferred.
- Experience: 7 years of accounting and SEC reporting experience, including public accounting or public company background.
- Technical Skills: Deep fluency in U.S. GAAP, SOX 404b, and advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs). Familiarity with M&A accounting and due diligence.
- Soft Skills: Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- Experience in media, technology, SaaS, or streaming industries
- Proficiency with Sage Intacct, FloQast, and Asana.
- Gaia subscriber.
