The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment supporting both precast concrete and drycast concrete products (CMU, pavers, and SRW) manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical ability, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work directly with production equipment and automation systems. Role and Responsibilities
· Assemble, install, and test block production equipment and automation systems.
· Perform mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical troubleshooting on plant equipment.
· Diagnose and repair equipment failures in both plant and field/production settings.
· Support preventative maintenance (PM) programs for all block and precast machinery.
· Install, align, and maintain machine components including:
Molds
Vibration systems
Conveyors
Pallet handling systems
· Work with engineers and plant leadership to improve machine performance, uptime, and reliability.
· Assist production teams by quickly responding to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
· Perform routine inspections and help identify preventive maintenance needs.
· Track all applicable assets within MaintainX software, utilizing the software to its full capabilities
· Maintain safe and efficient operation of all plant equipment in accordance with company standards.
· Follow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout and safe operation of heavy machinery.
· Operate forklifts and other mobile equipment as needed.
· Maintain maintenance records and assist with parts and inventory tracking.
· Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations. Use of hand/air tools.

· Support troubleshooting of sensors, relays, motors, and control components.
· Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams on control system improvements.
qualifications & experience
· 5–7 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; precast or concrete block/paver manufacturing strongly preferred.
· Experience with Columbia, Besser, Hess, Tiger, or similar block production equipment strongly preferred.
· Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial equipment repair and maintenance.
· Solid understanding of hydraulics (critical), pneumatics, and basic electrical systems.
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams.
· Experience troubleshooting vibration-based block forming systems preferred.
· Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment preferred; willingness to learn required.
· Welding and light fabrication skills preferred.
· Experience supporting preventive maintenance programs and industrial equipment uptime.
· Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently in a fast-paced production environment.
· Ability to communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, and engineers.
· Forklift experience preferred or ability to obtain certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
· Must be able to climb ladders, step stools, and equipment to perform tasks.
· Must pass pre-employment physical aptitude test and drug screening.
