What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Mechanic position at Gage Tree Service?
Lead Fleet Mechanic – $40–$50/hr (Full-Time, Year-Round)
Gage Tree Service – Anchorage
We're not looking for a trainee or someone "interested in learning."
We're looking for a true mechanic — someone who's been turning wrenches for around a decade and can keep a fleet running without hand-holding.
If that's you, read on.
About the Position
We need a lead fleet mechanic to take full ownership of our maintenance program. You'll be responsible for keeping our trucks and equipment in top condition — and for catching small problems before they become big ones.
Our fleet includes:
- Pickup trucks and smaller dump trucks
- Brush chippers and stump grinders
- Equipment trailers and small machinery
You Need To Have:
- Minimum 8 years professional mechanic experience (diesel and gas)
- Valid driver's license
- Clean background check
- Solid knowledge of automotive repair, diesel, hydraulics, electrical, welding, and diagnostics
- Ability to stay organized, work efficiently, and take charge without constant supervision
If you've spent years in a real shop environment, know your way around a wrench, and take pride in doing things right the first time — you'll fit in here.
What We Offer
- $40–$50/hr (based on experience)
- Year-round, full-time position, steady hours
- Paid time off
- Health insurance
- 401(k) with company match
- Great crew, new shop, and reliable equipment
- Occasionally travel to our Wasilla branch
If you meet the requirements and you're ready to run the show — send your resume and a brief summary of your experience.
We're hiring for skill, pride, and accountability.
