This job reports to Assigned Administrator
Essential Functions
- Assesses student needs (e.g. academic, behavioral, social, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing plans to support educational objectives.
- Assists teachers and staff with assessing students' academic and behavioral needs (e.g. coordinating ELL testing, conducting student observation, participating in assessment meetings, etc.) for the purpose of determining student needs and developing recommendations.
- Collaborates with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, teachers, CPS, police, physicians, administration, outside agencies, community resources, other professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues and providing services in compliance with established guidelines.
- Conducts workshops, training, and meetings with a variety of audiences (e.g. peer mediation sessions, home visits, parent/student/teacher conferences, crisis team meetings, parent education workshops, etc.) for the purpose of providing information to support the educational process.
- Counsels students in classroom, small group settings and as individuals (e.g. self-referral, parent referral, or school referral, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing student success in school.
- Maintains a wide variety of records (e.g. academic probation contracts, evaluations, progress reports, teacher/parent/student correspondence, grade checks, etc.) for the purpose of complying with state requirements, documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Monitors students' progress (e.g. academics, attendance, behavior, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues and taking appropriate action for increasing student success.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (e.g. multidisciplinary evaluation teams, intervention team, team meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.
- Reports incidents (e.g. suspected child or substance abuse, fights, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to education code and school policies.
- Supervises assigned programs (e.g. overseeing ACT registrations and process, liaising with schools of higher education, JHU summer programs, CTY registrations, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall curriculum objectives.
